Healthy Living
Course Description:
"Healthy Living" is a class designed to help us learn about health and fitness. The class actively engages students in various activites they can do to stay healthy including: running, biking, working out in a gym, getting involved in community activities and finding classes that help them meet their own health goals. By the end of the year students will be more fit than when they started, and be confident when going to a gym, or setting their own fitness goals that will carry them forward toward a healthy future.

Grade Breakdown:
Assignments ... 30% (6 in the year)
Tests ... 15% (3 in the year)
Readiness ... 10%
Did you bring the appropriate clothing or gear. Do you have your waiver signed. Do you show up on time. Do you have a place in your binder for my class. These are some of the things I will look for. Through them I can guage how ready you are. I'll keep a clipboard. If your missing stuff I'll make a note. This is not to be mean or shame anyone, its simply keep this mark attatched to real data.
Effort and Attitude ... 35%
How hard your trying, and how your feeling is mildy subjective. But sometimes it pretty obvious. To take away some of the subjectivity I will get you to self assess 3 times during the year. I will also assess you 3 times during the year. If our two marks are vastly different we'll talk and figure out the most fair mark. If our marks are similar I'll take an average of the two. Your effort will be determined on whether or not you push and strive for fitness goals. Whether you seek to improve your personal performance. Whether you build up people around you. Whether you communicate any issues around you. Whether you behave in a way that is safe. Effort and attitude will not be guaged during classroom days.
Mr Falks Gym Time ... 10%
I have no idea how Mr Falk will mark you. I will probe him to see if the attitude and readiness that he sees during his classes line up with the readiness and preparedness I see in mine. If he wants to guage your effort he will do so seperately from my mark.
